Description
The Kentucky Board of Cosmetology's mission is to serve the Commonwealth by providing educational, health, and regulatory standards for all aspects of the beauty industry. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:

- Perform professional investigations on licensees and licensed/permitted facilities for compliance.
- Investigate complaints.
- Interview witnesses and defendants.
- Assist legal counsel and administrative staff in legal cases.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years experience in the field of investigative law enforcement or a related field of investigation.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience as a sworn law enforcement officer will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must be 21 years of age. Employees in this classification are subject to the provisions of KRS Chapter 15 and 503 KAR 1:140 relating to peace officer certification as administered by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possess and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
May work irregular hours due to nature of investigative work. Will be required to travel in the course of investigations. Works in all types of weather.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
