Skills:

• Basic knowledge of infectious diseases and microbiology.
• Ability to employ problem-solving techniques and critical thinking.
• Membership in the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.
• Certification by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.
• Participates as a member of the team of the Infection Control Staff.
• Shares responsibility and works in close collaboration with the Hospital Epidemiologists in the clinical administrative aspects and daily operations of the total Infection Control Program.
• Participates in special studies relevant to infection control practice.
• Evaluates patient care practices for effectiveness and application to infection control.
• Identifies and solves potential problems related to the implementation of infection prevention and control.
• Participates in or initiates performance improvement activities.
• Participates in the formation of policies, procedures and programs designed to meet the goals and objectives the Infection Control Department and all hospital departments.

Minimum Degree Required: Professional (J.D., M.D., D.D.S. or Pharm. D.or BA or BSN)
