Why does the job exist?

This position will provide in-home services for Protective Services clients by developing and implementing interventions with children and families receiving voluntary services to reduce risk and promote the safety of children who have experienced or may be at risk of experiencing child maltreatment.

How does it get done?

  • Provide In-Home Services for children and youth served by the agency that is reflective of the Protective Services PiƱon Practice Model to reduce risk and promote the safety and well-being of children and youth receiving non-legal services.
  • Conduct ongoing case activities to collect information, create appropriate plans, reduce risk, promote safety and ensure well-being for children and youth receiving non-legal services in order to enhance families' capacities to provide for their children and youth.
  • Provide case management services for families served by the agency to include but not limited to documenting efforts and case activities in FACTS and ensure all required paperwork is completed.
  • Provide quality In Home Services to children, youth and families served by the agency by working collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure the quality of services is reflective of the Protective Services Practice Model so as to achieve the goals of safety and well-being for the children, youth and families served through In Home Services.

Minimum Qualification

Master's Degree in Social Work, Guidance and Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology or Criminology from an accredited college/university and two (2) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care, and licensure in New Mexico as a Doctoral Level Psychologist, Psychologist Associate, LISW, LMSW, LPC, LPCC, LMHC or LMFT or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or Family Studies from an accredited college/university and five (5) years of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel is required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Incumbent will be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments which may include transporting clients including children. Must have own mode of transportation.
