Border Brokers International has an exciting entry level opportunity for an Import Release Agent to join their growing US team. This position can be home based or in the office, depending on location of successful candidate.
This reputable company specializes in customs clearance and trade consulting to the United States and Canada. Border Brokers continues to be proactive in technology and customized solutions to improve importing and exporting services that ensure goods cross the border efficiently and reliably.
This position will handle all aspects of import shipments and communicate effectively with clients, US Customs and team members in releasing and classifying shipments into the United States. The candidate will be required to have strong computer skills, efficiency in accurate data entry and excellent communication skills. One to two years’ experience in a Customs Brokerage field would be an asset, but willing to train entry level candidates with little or no experience.
This position will require you to work all possible day and afternoon shifts and be available for weekend or holiday shifts when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Gather information, assess documentation, and process entries for customs clearance.
- Monitor transactions for rejects, acceptance, and release.
- Coordinating with carriers, customs brokers, and clients to effectively complete each shipment.
- Responds to all customer inquiries, providing excellent customer service.
- File shipping documents and other documentation for proper invoicing.
- Respond to telephone, in person or electronic inquiries or forward to appropriate person.
- Sort and file documents according to the established system, locate and retrieve documents from maintained records.
- Maintain and prepare reports, mailing lists, and databases.
- Interact and maintain relationships with freight forwarders and customers.
- Set up and maintain manual and computerized information filing systems.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 1-2 years’ experience in customs brokerage or freight services would be a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in MS Office (intermediate Excel).
- Excellent mathematical/accounting skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a small team environment.
- Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal.
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task in an extremely busy environment.
- Dedicated commitment to providing superior, timely internal and external customer service.
- Ability to handle large volumes of work and meet tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
- Proven commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, professional team player.
