K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of service dogs to veterans suffering from the invisible wounds of war, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Our unique, in-house program helps change the lives of American heroes by pairing them with a battle buddy, who was likely a rescue dog and then teaching him or her to utilize that dog to mitigate the symptoms of their wounds. In order to continue the great work, we are doing, we are in need of a Human Resources Generalist to join our amazing team!
Role and Responsibilities
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible forassisting the Human Resources (HR) team in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The HR Generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, working with sensitive and confidential information on a routine basis, and possess a strong work ethic, integrity, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment, meeting multiple deadlines with extensive Generalist experience within the HR field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage ADP HR database by creating employee files, processing PAFs, updating employment actions, updating the home page for monthly announcements and/or new pertinent information, and provide employee milestones for monthly staff meetings
· Assist Talent Acquisition with posting internal and external job openings for all positions, and facilitates navigating candidates throughout the interview process by scheduling and coordinating video and in-person interviews
· Assist in creating and maintaining the database of candidate applications and interview records, updating applicant tracking Smartsheet to ensure each step of the recruitment process is being tracked in a timely and current manner
· Assist in creating and maintaining competency-based interview questions and evaluation forms specific to individual positions
· Partner with Talent Acquisition Specialist to prepare and send formal offer letters to candidates, initiate background screening, and confirm the start date with appropriate Managers once background screening results received
· Prepare and maintain all new employee hiring, on/off-boarding documents and processes
· Assist with orientation set up and facilitate as needed
· Assist in preparation, tracking, and maintenance of employee education programs
· Create and email monthly new hire announcements to all employees
· Submit ID Badge requests and schedule photos with Marketing department, collaborate with departments in the ordering and distributing of names tags for new hires and internal transfers, promotions, and title changes
· Maintain team member uniform database, and assist in the distribution of new hire and replacement uniforms
· Assist in maintaining the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) database, H-drive, Smart Sheets, etc., and document flow management
· Create and maintain recurring HR reports as identified by HR leadership
· Coordinate employee verifications through “The Workplace”
· Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies
· Support the HR team as needed based on operational needs
· Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field, or equivalent work experience
· 3+ years of HR Generalist experience and/or working in the human resources field
· General overall knowledge of HR services/functions
· High level of customer service skills
· High level of experience with HRIS, Microsoft Office, and Smart Sheets
· Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
· Excellent communication skills
· Excellent people skills
· Capacity to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
· Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative
· Excellent time management skills in a fast-paced, varied environment with a proven ability to meet deadlines
· Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to the HR industry
Physical Requirements
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
