Job Title: Human Resources Assistant

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: Human Resources Director

SUMMARY

Assist departments in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned, with the inclusion of payroll and or other related payroll activities.

· Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provide information for personnel requests

· Records all employee data, such as address, rate of pay, absences, and benefits, using personal software programs

· Maintains and updates employee records to document personnel actions and changes in employee status including I-9 binders.

· Processes and reviews employment application to evaluate qualifications or eligibility of applicant

· Screens applicants to obtain and verify information. Identifies applicants having specified job requirements and refers to requesting department head and or supervisor.

· Complies with various State of Florida Monthlyreports required by law

· Request information from previous employers and other references to determine applicant's employment acceptability

· Answers questions regarding eligibility, salaries, benefits, and other pertinent information

  • Prepares listing of vacancies and notifies eligible workers of position availability.

· Communicates with employees or applicants to explain company personnel policies and procedures on or before start date

· Explains company insurance policies and other benefits to employee Files enrollment forms

  • Coordinates along with Human Resources Director all employee relation activities for the hotel such as hotel picnic, holiday party, employee of the month and employee of the year program, bulleting boards throughout the hotel and any other work assignment related to employee relations delegated from the HR Director.

· Maintains accurate log for Vacation and Personal time for employees at the hotel

  • Orders supplies, forms, plaques, materials needed for bulletin boards, and any other supplies needed for the department

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from college or university; or two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
