HSE REPRESENTATIVE
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK
In our organization, the HSE Representative has a critical and challenging role in helping achieve innovation and meeting our commitments by promoting and providing support in the coordination of the OSI-OKC Piper Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) function to maximize the strategic use of HSE within the OSI-OKC Piper facility and in coordination with the Oil States Industries Corporate HSE philosophy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer, coordinate, and continually improve the HSE function.
- Assist with the completion of incident investigations, preparation of root cause analysis, corrective action plans, and final incident closeout reports.
- Conduct and document Hazard Identification and Assessment processes for the entire OSI-OKC Piper Campus and compile recommendations to eliminate or mitigate the hazards which may include process changes or the purchase of equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify safety and environmental compliance.
- Assist with maintaining organizational compliance with applicable regulations and statutes as well as organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintain a positive relationship with the OSI-OKC Piper Management Group and employees.
- Positively support and promote HSE initiatives.
- Conduct the OSI-OKC Piper HSE New Hire Orientation process.
- Assist with coordination of emergency management during events that require implementation of the OSI-OKC Piper Emergency Action Plan.
- Maintain sensitive and confidential information with utmost privacy.
- Perform all tasks as required of a Safety Sensitive position.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and participate in safety inspections of the entire OSI-OKC Piper campus, including but not limited to assisting during the OSI-OKC Piper Management Team Inspections.
- Assist in the development of tools for maintaining compliance with HSE regulatory requirements.
- Organize and actively participate in Safety Meetings, including participation as a member of the OSI-OKC Piper Employee Safety Committee.
- Assist in the development of annual HSE goals, objectives, and programs.
- Interact with OSI-OKC Piper Employees of all levels on a regular basis to enhance the safety culture.
- Coordinate and conduct OSI-OKC Piper HSE training courses as necessary.
- Coordinate and maintain electronic records of completed OSI-OKC Piper Employee Training programs to include but not limited to New Hire Training as well as Department specific training records.
- Complete safety, health, and environmental compliance tasks assigned.
- Place orders for specific safety related items as required.
- Effectively and efficiently use time to safely perform duties.
- Complete all paperwork in required manner and time frame.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn to produce new products, use new procedures, and embrace and support change.
- Follow and support established HSE programs.
- Report any unsafe situations to appropriate Management Team member if necessary.
- All other duties or tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Good communication skills are required for internal and external customer relations.
- Working knowledge of accident prevention, root cause analysis, industrial hygiene, auditing, HSE management systems, Behavior Based Safety, JSA’s, First Aid/ CPR.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and their application in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to use and share best practices, break down barriers, seek opportunities, encourage learning and innovation, and leverage technology.
- Ability to teach and speak in front of audiences.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects daily in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to speak, write and read English.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team on a broad variety of projects.
- Strong problem-solving and analysis skills.
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
- Two years HSE experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) preferred.
- Must obtain and maintain active OSI-OKC Piper certification to operate Classes I, II, III, and IV forklifts and train others as forklift operators.
- Must obtain and maintain active OSI-OKC Piper certifications to operate cranes and train other crane operators.
- Must obtain and maintain Authorized Driver status as defined by the Oil States Company Vehicles and Drivers policy.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged sitting, walking, and standing.
- Occasional climbing on ladder, scaffold, or stairs.
- Occasional lifting to 30 pounds.
Tools and Equipment Used
- Extended use of computer equipment to include but not limited to laptop computer, monitors, keyboard, mouse, scanner, printer, and computerized data acquisition hardware.
- Extended use of company designated software programs to include but not limited to employee time tracking software, office productivity software packages, and learning management systems.
- Periodic use of overhead cranes and other lifting devices including but not limited to 1/2-ton cranes, 1-ton cranes, 5-ton cranes, and associated rigging.
- Periodic use of Class I, II, III, and IV forklifts.
- Potential to drive company vehicles or personal vehicles for business purposes.
Quality/Customer Service Implications
- Directly impacts workplace safety through active participation in OSI-OKC Piper HSE programs and safe work practices.
- Indirectly impacts product realization, product availability, and customer satisfaction through implementation of safe work practices to minimize risk to our highly qualified workforce.
Safety Sensitive Position
This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive Position as defined by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act.
