THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $54,100.00 - $62,215.00.

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City’s children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services. In child welfare, ACS contracts with private nonprofit organizations to support and stabilize families at risk of a crisis through preventive services and provides foster care services for children not able to safely remain at home. Each year, the agency’s Division of Child Protection conducts more than 55,000 investigations of suspected child abuse or neglect. In juvenile justice, ACS manages and funds services including detention and placement, intensive community-based alternatives for youth, and support services for families. In early care, ACS coordinates and funds programs and vouchers for close to 100,000 children eligible for subsidized care.

The Division of Family Permanency Services seeks to hire two (2) Community Coordinators who will report to the Program Evaluator (PE) in the Family Permanency Services (FPS) Housing Division. The Community Coordinator will work closely with various contracted providers, the Housing Academy Collaborative (HAC) team, Housing Support Services (HSS) team and with the Housing Navigation and Stability program to support the CITYFHEPS voucher application process. The Community Coordinators will oversee the CITYFHEPS’ process from voucher issuance through housing navigation and stability program assignment. The ideal candidates will coordinate with various City agencies (e.g. NYC DHS, HRA, DSS, HPD, and NYCHA) to support permanency and housing stability for youth and families through the CITYFHEPS program.

The duties of the Housing Coordinators will include, but not be limited to:

  • Establish and maintain effective communication with the HAC/HSS team and will oversee the unit’s CITYFHEPS application review and submission process
  • Communicate with internal/external stakeholders around housing related matters including barriers to placement and progress made to resolve housing matters
  • Serve as part of a team responsible for monitoring the status of families/youth housing applications and identifying individual/program/system level barriers to the housing process.
  • Assist with the review and audit of the CITYFHEPS voucher eligibility and documentation collection process, ensuring that families/youth meet the guidelines; develop and review established
performance measures as well as manage the housing unit’s reporting and tracking.
  • Maintain up to date case notes and information in the housing database/ tracker of families/youth needing housing navigation and stability support
  • Interface with contracted providers, various city agencies and Housing Navigation/Stability team to support youth/families in the housing search
  • Conducting case level assessment/review of families and youth to better understand individual housing needs/support
  • Provide technical assistance, training and support to internal/external providers around housing matters
  • Make recommendations and inform the larger team of system improvements and potential solutions to address the housing barriers

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of Excel worksheets and NYC housing programs.
