About Jericho Project

Jericho Project is a nationally-acclaimed nonprofit ending homelessness at its roots by enabling homeless individuals and families to attain quality housing, employment and mental and physical health services. The 40-year-old nonprofit serves over 2,500 individuals, including 700 veterans, annually. Jericho has been a key partner in New York City’s initiative to end veterans’ homelessness, and is leading bold, innovative strategies to do the same for families and young adults.

Our programs touch four cornerstones of a person’s life: housing, employment, wellness and family stability. We create a culture of “moving on” through a foundation of housing and supportive services provided by expert program specialists and case managers.

We have over 500 units of supportive housing including 8 residences in the Bronx and Harlem, as well as scatter-site apartments throughout NYC.

About the Position

The House Manager reports to the Manager of Buildings Operations and is responsible for the overall security of the site and assistance with clerical duties.

Responsibilities:

Ø Securing and maintaining the safety of the tenants and the facility.

Ø Provide crisis intervention when necessary.

Ø Responsible for reporting and electronically documenting all incidents on site.

Ø Assist with filing, rent collection, time & leave calendars and timesheet collection.

Ø Monitor and visually verify that clients are safe by conducting room checks in accordance with Directors and Case Manager’s directive and client request(s)

Ø Monitor client/visitor activity.

Ø Maintaining compliance with fire safety codes.

Ø Work with Building Operations Manager to assist tenant to meet terms of their lease including timely payment of rent.

Ø Maintaining security by conducting floor checks at the beginning of every shift.

Ø Periodically attend house meetings, case conferences, and staff meetings.

Ø Light porter duties as needed such as sweeping front of building, removing garbage, cleaning windows, and mopping.

Ø Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Ø 1-year customer service experience required.

Ø Fire Guard Certification required. (Must obtain within first year of employment)

Ø Basic computer skills knowledge required.

Ø Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.

Ø Other duties as assigned.

Ø Candidate has at least one years of experience working with individuals in with substance abuse history.

Ø An understanding of working with individuals who have experienced homelessness and substance use.

Schedule:

  • Monday + Tuesday: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 03:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Compensation:

The salary for this position is $17.50 an hour. Jericho Project offers a comprehensive benefits package.

COVID Guidelines:

The Jericho Project is committed to ensuring the safety of its staff, interns, vendors and clients. As per the CDC guidelines' full compliance, all new/incoming staff are required to be fully vaccinated and possess the ability to provide documentation upon their 1st day of hire.
