Homecare Services Supervisor (HSS)
Position Summary: The Homecare Services Supervisor (HSS) serves a vital role as both a lead caregiver
and as the manager of a single shared home. The HSS assists the Region Director in ensuring that the
home is safe, clean, and promotes a healthy living environment. Equally as important, the HSS ensures
that all consumers are provided with the highest quality of care by compassionate, respectful and
competent caregivers. It is intended that the HSS take “ownership” of their assigned home and
establish it as the perfect model of care for seniors who wish to maintain their independence in the
community.
Responsibilities of the Homecare Services Supervisor (HSS) Position:
Direct Caregiving
1. Providing personal care services to consumers according to their care plan, expressed needs,
etc.
Leadership / Supervision / Training
1. Supervision of caregivers
a. Ensure that caregivers arrive on time for shifts
b. Ensure that caregivers are clocking in / out consistently & correctly
c. Ensure that caregivers provide care according to the client’s care plan
d. Ensure that caregivers document accurately & before the end of their shift
e. Ensure that caregivers complete all assigned tasks
f. Provide director with objective feedback on staff performance as requested
2. Training
a. Provide comprehensive orientation & training to new hires
b. Ensure that all staff are familiar with emergency procedures & follow the Resource
Guide
c. Provide equipment training, as applicable
3. Managing call offs
a. Be the first line of defense for director in effectively managing call offs
b. Ensure that all shifts are filled even if that means that you fill the shift yourself, & be
proactive in filling shifts when gaps are anticipated
c. Accurately track call offs to determine if caregivers require corrective action due to
repeated absences or tardiness
Operations
1. Assist director with developing staff schedules
2. Ensure that client appointments are scheduled, transportation is secured & client is ready for
appointment
3. Create & implement robust activity schedule, ensuring that all caregivers participate & engage
with clients
4. Ensure that grocery shopping & meals are planned per individual client & menu reflects their
preferences (post weekly menu in plain sight)
5. Ensure that LEAF documentation is completed accurately & in a timely manner
6. Ensure that incidents are reported immediately, described in great detail & shared with
appropriate administrators (Director, Project Manager)
7. Actively monitor client & house binders to ensure that they are up-to-date & complete
8. Conduct money, narcotic & supply counts
9. Closely monitor overall operation of house & report maintenance concerns according to protocol
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $12.50 per hour
