  • Salary Range: $82,740 - $126,180 annually (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.).

Project Overview

Bechtel is designing, constructing and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington state. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.


The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities – Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.


The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and AECOM. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.


This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, Monday- Thursday 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Selected applicant needs to be willing and able to work weekends, overtime and night shift as needed.


Responsibilities

  • Assigned to a field construction organization in a supervisory position.

  • Responsible for the organization and direction of construction and related activities within assigned area of responsibility, which may be a single area, multi-area or a multi- discipline construction project.

  • Responsibilities are to ensure assigned jobsite operations follow design/ specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.

  • Responsible for Area field operations, including Safety, Quality, schedule and performance.

  • Responsible for assisting in the alignment and sourcing of the field manpower organization to provide qualified and knowledgeable personnel and to direct their effective use.

  • Work with the Project Management, Project Engineering, and the Procurement organizations, harmoniously, to deliver the project as-sold or better.

  • Validate the overall project schedules, staffing charts and material and equipment requirements. Aid in the management effort to set target schedules and schedule work around as required.

  • Principle in the overall control and management of jobsite expenditures in assigned areas for the union labor, construction equipment, material and services and ensure that field operations are within budget.

  • Aid in the development and implementation of safety programs and monitor strict adherence to Federal and State safety codes.

  • Responsible for labor relations within the assigned areas, and for providing consultation in the overall coordination of the activities with the Labor Relations department and Site manager.

  • Facilitate progressive training to enable personnel to assume additional responsibilities. Manages the procurement, storage, issuance, and inventory of project tools

  • Manages the mask fit/wash program.

  • Approve requisitions for tool orders and obtain Project approval for additional consumables, safety and rigging.

  • Responsible for inventory reporting in accordance with project procedures Monitors on hand inventory to identify reduction of idle or surplus tools/materials.

  • Directs daily work activities of warehouse, tool control, and maskfit/wash craft personnel. Supervise

  • Tool Control non-manuals

  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities. Manage overall waregiyse effectiveness.


Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction related discipline from an accredited university, and 6+ years of progressive, construction, procurement, or engineering related experience, or in lieu of a degree 12+ years of progressive, construction, procurement, or engineering related experience. Related experience includes, but is not limited to: management experience and craft supervisor experience, assignments in or oversight of receiving, expediting, subcontracts, warehousing operations, material control, management, and accountability.

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check which includes verification of employment and education. Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.

  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs, which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of Field Manual or Non Manual Supervision experience.

  • 2 years of experience in computer programs Word processing, spreadsheet and technical database applications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Materials Management or Warehouse oversight/operations experience.

  • Ability to work in a team-based environment, knowledge of project specific environmental compliance requirements, general awareness of environmental laws, awareness of government compliance standards.

  • Familiarity with current industry quality standards, general awareness of local labor laws and issues, general knowledge of state, federal and local contracting requirements, experience working with and supervising craft.

  • Prior Government experience. Prior Bechtel experience.

  • Prior WTP/WTCC experience.

  • Experience with inventory database management tools.

  • Working knowledge with ToolHound and Bechtel Procurement Systems.

  • Fluent use of Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel.

  • Min/Max Management.

  • Broad knowledge of construction tools and materials.
