About the role

Thiess is seeking a Heavy Equipment Welder (site) to support our mining team on our project site near Denver, Colorado. The Heavy Equipment Welder will be responsible for safe repair of mining shovel, loader, haul truck, water truck, dozer, grader, and miscellaneous support equipment.

What you’d be doing

• Weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, and/or verbal instructions
• Read, understand and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders
• Set up, layout work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to rebuild, fabricate and/or rework parts to a finished product
• Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications
• Assist others in the fabrication and welding of multi-component parts

Additional information

• All necessary tools will be provided
• Work schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off, rotating 12-hour shifts both days and nights
• Fly-in, fly-out opportunities for those who live out-of-state (travel expenses paid), drive-in, drive-out opportunities for those who live in-state (mileage reimbursed)
• Working at high elevation with cold, snowy conditions during winter months
• Hotel and shuttle accommodations provided

What we’re looking for

It’s required to have

• Ability to work extended shifts, rotating days and nights at high elevation
• Interpersonal skills to bring to a positive, inclusive team-oriented work environment
• Alignment with our “Everyone Safe Everyday” culture, having a paramount outlook on safety
• 5 years of experience with diesel heavy equipment repair
• Welding experience with mobile heavy mining equipment

It’s beneficial to have

• Heavy equipment maintenance and fabrication experience
• Technical trainings/certifications in welding
• Surface mining experience
• Diesel mechanic experience
