Health Information Management Clerk
Job description
This leader has accountability and oversight, and manages the daily activities of the Health Information Management (HIM) department for Venice Hospital. In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring team work tasks, projects, and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of departmental and organizational goals. This leader is the on-site representative and subject matter expert for HIM at the Venice Hospital location. This leader is responsible for managing the systems and staff to accomplish record pick up and scanning, birth certificate completion, release of information, and HIM customer service. In addition, this leader will work closely with and will provide coverage and assistance to the Registration Manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Require Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
- Require five (5) years of experience with document imaging/management systems and legal medical record content and review, with a minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership or management experience.
- Require a Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field; or must obtain within two (2) years of hire date.

- Prefer demonstrated ability to take initiative, exercise independent judgment, analyze problems, make decisions and consistently follow through to solution.
- Prefer demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to lead/supervise teams with effective leadership skills and understanding of group processes, teamwork and site/cost-center based management.
- Prefer ability to shift work hours as necessary.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to handle difficult interactions or situations.
- Prefer knowledge of computer systems and ability to develop and generate reports. Prefer proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Prefer knowledge of Conditions of Participation (CoP), CMS, HIPAA, AHCA and Joint Commission Standards and Florida State Statues.
- Prefer ability to multi-task, shift priorities, delegate work, and demonstrate decision making ability.
