Gettysburg College, located in historical Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Head Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, 10-month, administrative position reporting to the Director of Athletic Medicine and Sports Performance. The College seeks candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues and community members. Gettysburg is an undergraduate liberal arts and sciences college, which enrolls approximately 2,600 primarily residential students. The College is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual who has a strong administrative, collaborative and student-focused background to serve in this position.
The Head Athletic Trainer will provide exceptional leadership, organization, administration and supervision of all aspects of a comprehensive Division III athletics program that supports 24 varsity programs with over 500 student-athletes competing annually. The head athletic trainer will:
- provide comprehensive preventive and emergency care, initial treatment, follow-up care, rehabilitation and successful return to competition;
- demonstrate a high level of involvement in the personal and health and welfare of student-athletes;
- work cooperatively with all department staff and areas in regard to public relations efforts, practice coordination, health and safety of student-athletes;
- maintain appropriate athletics injury records and assists in the coordination of reports following NATA, NCAA, HIPPA and FERPA guidelines
- maintain medical documentation, including health insurance, emergency contacts, physicals, injury reports and treatment logs;
- interact with team physician
- provide educational programming for athletics staff and student-athletes;
- assist with the hiring and supervising assistant athletic trainer;
- additional administrative responsibilities may be assigned by the Director of Athletic Medicine and Sports Performance and/or the Executive Director Athletics and Campus Recreation

Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
- have earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree is preferred;
- be Board of Certification (BOC) certified and licensed or eligible to hold a license by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- have or become certified with an instructor rating in CPR and First aid;
- have a recommended five to seven years of successful collegiate athletic training experience;
- have the ability to work effectively in the environment of an academically demanding liberal arts institution and abide by all NCAA Division III, Centennial Conference and institutional policies;
- be proficient with technology applications applicable to the position;
- maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record in accordance with all institutional policies;
This position involves working various nights and weekends, occasional holidays and travel.
