Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Hazardous Materials Technician through 03/01/2023 at 11:59 p.m. (Central Time).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Operates forklifts, flatbed trucks, truck and trailer, and other mobile equipment
-
Handle and move heavy containers and 55-gallon drums
-
Maintenance of tanks, pumps, forklifts and other equipment, maintenance of drum field, general housekeeping, and other tasks as needed
-
Conducts the pickup of petroleum and chemical waste containers throughout laboratory facility
-
Sorts hazardous materials by hazard class and regulatory requirements. Enters inventory data in database. Identifies petroleum products to be recycled using technical and regulatory knowledge

Segregates materials according to waste streams and assists with lab pack operation. Prepares and packages hazardous wastes for shipment

Conducts lab pack operations. Packs small laboratory containers of chemical waste into larger containers

Preparation of hazardous waste manifests/ shipping papers
-
Pumps petroleum products from drums for recycling. Pours spent laboratory solvents and wastes into drums and tanks for waste shipment. Prepares and packages hazardous wastes for shipment.

Performs various regulatory compliance and safety tasks and inspections
-
Familiar with RCRA requirements: Waste Accumulations Area, Satellite Accumulation Area, Large and Small Quantity Generator, EPA waste codes and hazard classification, distinction between acute and chronic toxins.

Customer service – answer phone calls and emails concerning waste operations. Able to communicate clearly with customers, answer questions, and provide instructions.

Outdoor operations; work in all weather conditions
Required Qualifications:
-
High School diploma or equivalent
-
2+ previous years in hazardous waste industry
Preferred Qualifications
-
Knowledge of common lab chemicals and solvents
-
Experience working in industrial environment & hazardous waste field
-
Read & understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Hazard Communication, and other safety information
-
Ensure full hazardous waste regulatory compliance
Special Considerations:
-
Safety Sensitive Job subject to Random Drug and Alcohol screening program

Requires use of respirator and other personal protective equipment
-
Valid California driver's license
Relocation Options:
Relocation will not be considered.
International Considerations:
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.

The compensation and reference to benefits for this role is listed on this posting in compliance with applicable law. The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on his or her skills, experience, and qualifications. Please note that the compensation and benefits listed below are only applicable to successful candidates who are hired onto local United States payroll.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $ 74,000 – $ 131,000.
