Guest Services Representative
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Starting Pay Range: $17.50 - $19.69/HR, DOE
The Guest Services Representative at the Museum is responsible for a successful guest experience. As the first and last team member to interact with most guests, they are ready to deliver world-class service ensuring a positive and lasting experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Primary Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:
- Demonstrates a professional demeanor when interacting with guests, members, board members, Chumash Community Members, volunteers, donors, and vendors.
- Serves guests and customers visiting the Museum, assisting them with purchases, answering questions, and ensuring the interaction with guests is in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answers general inquiries about the museum, exhibits, and programs in person, via phone and email.
- Promotes visitation, membership, and participation in programming.
- Maintains knowledge of culture sufficient to recommend exhibition-related merchandise.
- Responsible for cash-related transactions and ticket sales at the Museum Welcome Gallery.
- Stocks and cleans for the best sales appearance and ease of use for the customer.
- Assists with merchandising efforts, displays, and floor moves as needed.
- Responsible for the integrity and control of all funds entrusted to his/her care.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
- One year of retail or sales experience.
- Basic computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, e-mail, and Internet.
- Native American hiring preference applies.

Physical Requirements of the Position:

- Clear vision (close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception) is needed for navigating office and casino environments; reading and reviewing reports and policies; operating data processing equipment; and other essential job functions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear.
- The Team Member is frequently required to sit and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.
- The Team Member is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
- The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is occasionally exposed to tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
- The Team Member is usually subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- The Team Member is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
