Summary/Objective

The Graphic Designer will apply art, design, and copy layout skills to create visually engaging concepts such as graphics, fundraising and recruiting materials, communication media, and other print and digital materials.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Creates designs for TRMF that visually communicate desired product or project messages. Designs may be used in various visual media including newsletters, programs, reports, donor stewardship gifts, etc.
• Creates various layouts, iconography, package designs, website designs, logos, and illustrations according to internal client specifications.
• Collaborates with staff, communications manager and/or other project participants to understand project assignment, audience, and intended message.
• Creates original visual media that communicates the desired feeling or message in an engaging and unified way.
• Chooses graphics, clip art, and stock photography, as appropriate.
• Selects fonts for written copy; produces sample layout for approval by client or other project participants.
• Creates rough drafts and sketches of concept, and presents to client for further discussion and revision.
• Participates in collaborative revision and approval process until final design is approved.
• Consults with communications manager and/or other team members as needed on complex or specialized projects.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This position is in an office environment. Evenings, weekends and holidays required from April through October.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., this position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Extremely proficient in image editing and digital animation and illustration software such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software.
• Extensive knowledge of print, electronic, and graphics media.
• Superior artistic and design skills.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently on an assignment.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required; major or significant coursework in Art, Graphic Design, or related disciplines highly preferred.
• At least two years of related work experience highly preferred.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
