The Instructor will provide 90 direct contact hours teaching a secondary Language Arts course with a leadership component at the 2023 Summer Migrant Youth Leadership Institute (SMYLI) from July 21st to July 31st, 2023. The instructor will implement the course per the course description, create the syllabus and align the course to state standards in order for the students to receive 1 high school language arts credit. The instructor will prepare the course with co-teachers in order to facilitate the course and English language learner writing development. The instructor will review essays prior to the institute and group students according to the level of their narrative essays in order to provide modified support that addresses student needs. The instructor will submit grades for all SMYLI students to the appropriate credit registrar and send records of the grades to the Metro Migrant Education Program no later than July 31, 2023. The position will work approximately 126 hours including teaching hours and planning time.
