Anticipating a vacancy for a Grade 7/8 Mathematics Teacher at Drury High School. This position is subject to the NA Teacher's contract.Position: 7-8 Mathematics Teacher Job Goal: To develop and implement an effective mathematics program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to motivate each student to acquire the knowledge and skills for mathematical literacy, including fluency of mathematics facts and application through problem solving. Supervision: Reports to the Building Principal. Supervises personnel as designated by the Principal or the Superintendent.Performance Responsibilities: 1.Establishes effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop mathematics skills, habits of mind and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for high school mathematics education, in accordance with each pupils ability.2.Establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members.3.Teaches mathematics to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the School Committee and other appropriate learning activities.4.Instructs students in citizenship and mathematics as specified in state law, the state frameworks, and administrative regulations and procedures of the school.5.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.6.Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.7.Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.8.Evaluates pupils academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.9.Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils progress and interpret the schools mathematics program.10.Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems impacting access to the mathematics curriculum.11.Creates an effective environment for the learning of mathematics through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.12.Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and self-selected professional growth activities.13.Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.14.Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.15.Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the school testing program.16.Participates in curriculum development programs for mathematics as required.17.Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.18.Any other duties as may be assigned by Administration.The Committee's policy of nondiscrimination will extend to students, staff, the general public, and individuals with whom it does business; No person shall be excluded from or discriminated against in admission to a public school of any town or in obtaining the advantages, privileges, and courses of study of such public school on account of age, race, color, sex, gender identity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability or homelessness.smogtown13.com is the go-to platform for job seekers looking for the best job postings from around the web.
