Job description
NH Teen Institute’s vision is for every teenager to have the opportunity to discover the full capacity of their personal power and create healthier schools and communities. TI serves young people, grades 7 through 12, and the communities they live in. New Hampshire Teen Institute programs have worked hard to build resistance skills in youth, encouraging healthy and productive lives. We find it is imperative that substance misuse prevention education be a part of a larger curricula. TI’s “Leaders in Prevention” (LIP) is a middle-school program connecting students with their peers and communities resulting in better academic achievement, including higher grades and test scores, better school attendance, lower substance misuse rates, and better overall life choices. TI's "Summer Leadership Program" (SLP) is a week-long session for high school students addressing substance misuse education, anti-bullying, acceptance, community-building, youth leadership activities, and acceptance of others. TI also conducts day programs at school districts throughout the state addressing these topics individually.
Member Duties : TI is adding another Leaders in Prevention session and expanding our Summer Leadership Program to include more students this year. The AmeriCorps member will work with program staff to conduct outreach presentations at schools and youth groups around the state. Members will also support the LIP and SLP program sessions.
