Job description
The Texas General Land Office primarily serves the schoolchildren, veterans, and the environment of Texas. The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources. This position is with our Executive Office.
Performs highly advanced (senior-level) professional assistance work for an executive or multiple executives. Work involves overseeing and/or providing a wide variety of high-level administrative support including managing office workloads and the day-to-day activities of an executive(s). May supervise the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Veterans, Reservist or Guardsman with an MOS or additional duties that fall in the fields of the following or other related fields pertaining to the minimum experience requirement may meet the minimum qualifications for this position.

Essential Job Duties:
Provide administrative support to Senior Executive Staff.
Maintain Chief Clerk's electronic calendar and assist with other scheduling, as needed
Coordinate and handle travel arrangements for the Commissioner and Executive staff (hotel reservations, flights, consolidating expense reports, submitting travel authorizations, preparing travel vouchers, etc.)
Serve as backup to the Administrative Assistant position
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to perform all clerical duties, taking memos, maintaining files and confidential information, and organizing documents
as needed.
Comfortable in an extremely fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and projects.
Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365/Office Suite, Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the work-site) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required. The individual must be able to remain stationary for long periods of time when commuting to and from assigned destination and when traveling on state business including fieldwork and training assignments.
Experience in administration management. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration or a related field is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
