Job Summary/Purpose:
This position is part of the Gas Supply Team withing EMO’s Fossil Fuel Supply organization that is primarily responsible for purchasing and scheduling natural gas supply in order to meet the generation requirements for Entergy’s natural gas powered generation plants and gas utilities This position will primarily be responsible for natural gas procurement, pipeline coordination and will also support activities related to scheduling, reporting and analysis.

This position requires a high level of real-time communication and coordination within a group of fuel purchasers, as well as across several other functional groups responsible for the reliable operations. This position may require working before/after regular office hours including some holidays and weekends.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • This is an operational role supporting the procurement of natural gas to Entergy’s natural gas powered generation plants and the gas utilities, as such, it is required for this role to remain responsive in the evenings, weekends and holidays to ensure the procured natural gas meets the daily, hourly and real-time operational needs.
  • Responsible for purchasing, trading and developing commercial supplier relationships
  • Schedule, monitor and confirm accurate and timely nominations while coordinating closely with natural gas buyers, suppliers and the pipeline operators to remedy imbalances, cuts and volume changes and/or discrepancies.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of transportation contracts, receipt and delivery points, and capacities in order to correctly schedule according to contracts.
  • Monitor and communicate pipeline operational information postings in a timely manner, and ensure operational constraints are taken into account.
  • Develop and maintain trusted partnerships with all parties in the supply chain including third party schedulers, traders, pipeline reps and internal personnel.
  • Communicate and present performance metrics and operational developments to senior management and key stakeholders. Develop methods to improve daily operation processes and performance measurement.
  • Support internal/external audits, Rate Cases, RFI’s and Regulatory Filings for cost recovery. Support back office, accounting and plant operations by ensuring accuracy of fuel related data.
  • Work with accounting to ensure accurate deal entries and assist in resolving billing discrepancies.

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum education required of the position
  • BS/BA with a preference in a technical field such as Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Energy field

Minimum experience required of the position
  • Fuel Supply Rep I: 0-2 years of Fuel purchasing, scheduling or related experience
  • Fuel Supply Rep II: 2-4 years of Fuel purchasing, scheduling or related experience
  • Fuel Supply Rep III: 4-6 years of Fuel purchasing, scheduling or related experience
  • Fuel Supply Rep Sr.: 6-8 years of Fuel purchasing ,scheduling or related experience
  • Desired: 2-4 years of work experience with a preference for previous experience within the energy industry, operations or commercial transactions

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize, while meeting deadlines
  • Detailed oriented and possess excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work/Excel/Access/PowerPoint)
  • Experience with fuel procurement within MISO is preferred
  • Preferred: Previous scheduling and/or operations experience
