ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Work with the Assistant Principal of Discipline and Administrative Dean to implement an holistic approach to Freshmen discipline
a. Assign appropriate discipline to students based on behaviors
b. Work with Freshmen teachers with classroom management skills
- Help coordinate all Freshmen Activities
a. Accepted Reggie’s Day
b. Freshmen Orientation
- Establish and Coordinate Grade 9 Student Team Meetings (BARR)
a. Dates/Times/Purpose of Small Block
b. Dates/Times/Purpose of Community Connect
- Establish Goals for the Freshmen Academy
a. Academic
b. Behavioral
c. Community
- Work collaboratively with counselors, CPT facilitators, social workers/adjustment counselors, special education, instructional coaches, and administration to support the success of all freshmen students.
- Collect, Analyze, and Report Data Specific to the Freshman Academy.
Work with instructional coaches to develop and implement a system of interventions for all freshman students based on DCAP
- Work with Freshmen class advisors to engage students in school activities and events.
- Assist administration to identify areas of need for freshman success.

Location Description
The Greater Lawrence Technical School is a regional technical high school serving the four communities of Andover, Lawrence, Methuen and North Andover. It is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The school is located in Andover in close proximity to colleges, business and industry. It is accessible by major highways and is situated in an area that has seen major growth of high-tech business and industry.
Career Vocational and Technical Education (CVTE) is a major part of the educational experience that students receive at Greater Lawrence Technical School. Students spend almost 50% of their educational time learning technical skills and knowledge in a career path that will prepare them for employment prior to graduation. All our Career and Technical programs are approved Chapter 74 programs from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The CVTE curricula associated with these programs have all been aligned with the Massachusetts CVTE Frameworks. Students enrolled in CVTE programs will be expected to attain the Certificate of Proficiency in their chosen CVTE program prior to graduation.
Students entering freshman year at Greater Lawrence Technical School explore each career and technical program. Using resources such as career counseling and guidance from targeted support staff, students are able to make an informed decision when choosing their future path whether it be college or career. Job Requirements
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science or Education preferred. Experience working with students, parents and teachers. Prior teaching experience and licensure is preferred; a minimum of five years experience in a vocational school setting preferred; experience working with Police Departments, School Resource Officers, CHINS, Juvenile Systems as well as working with a multicultural population; any relative combination of education and experience. Massachusetts teacher licensure from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is required.
ABILITY, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: - Knowledge of attendance intervention strategies with the ability/experience to track student attendance.
- Knowledge of current Massachusetts state laws in regards to discipline, attendance and special education
- Must have well-established communication skills. Bi-lingual language skills are preferred.
- Willing to adjust to the changing needs of the Student & Family Engagement (SAFE) Office, with the flexibility to meet those work needs and demands.
- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
- Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills; general pleasant demeanor and respectful attitude toward students and employees at all levels of the school.
- Working knowledge of Google Docs.
- Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented and maintain confidentiality.
