Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the 2IC (second-in-command) is to support the District Director in running the daily operation of the dock locations within the district, to ensure all dock employees are properly trained, to provide exceptional service to our members, and to maintain an impeccably clean and ship shape fleet. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support District Director in supervision of day-to-day dock operations including but not limited to overseeing Dock Staff and Fleetio Technicians
- Collaborate with District Director to sustain, promote, and grow departmental initiatives
- Acts as a proxy for the District Director as needed in his or her absence
- Assist with hiring, training, and coaching and continued development of staff
- Assist with scheduling as needed
- Assist with and provide input for performance evaluations
- Travel to locations within district to support employees, monitor departmental efficiencies, and ensure fleet is maintained to standards
- Ensure personal appearance and uniform guidelines are being adhered to
- Lead by providing a positive example collaborating with team and assisting on docks as needed
- Ensure employees are completing tasks in Fleetio including but not limited to inspections, issues/incidents, work orders, inventory, and ordering parts/supplies
- Ensure Fleetio Technician is recording and completing repairs timely
- Work with MOC leadership to escalate issues and ensure maintenance needs are being met
- Review monthly QA inspections and work with District Director to address areas of concern
- Assist with the fulfillment of Steritech standards
- Assist with all hand’s meetings
- Ensure policies and procedures are implemented and enforced
- Assist with member conflict resolution management and communication
- Ensure work environments are adequate and safe
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
- Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in operations
- Excellent verbal and written communication and people skills
- Excellent managerial and diplomacy skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform minor boat maintenance preferred
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- 3-5 years of related operations experience
- Experience in and around boats is desirable
- Prior management experience is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods standing/walking
- Prolonged periods driving to dock locations
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at time
- Must be able to board and un-board boats
- Must be able to pull, lift, carry, squat, twist, kneel, and reach
- Vision adequate to read / manipulate handheld devices
