Mutual of Omaha is looking to fill a position on the Financial Planning and Analysis team. The Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A) is responsible for financial and expense analysis and projections across all the business and support units at Mutual of Omaha. This individual will participate in budget and expense management processes and analysis including preparation of the annual budget, monthly expense analysis, development of quarterly expense forecasts and expense allocations. In addition, this individual will participate in expense management projects including deep dive expense studies and surveys and provide financial support to business partners.
This position will be a part of a collaborative team that pursues efficient operations, provides two-way feedback and welcomes innovative thoughts. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary as the individual will be communicating with internal and external partners. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks within specified time requirements are essential in this position.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Assists with expense projects, processes, or analyses with insights identifying trends, risk, and indicators to facilitate decisions by business operations.
  • Contribute to the budget and expense management process for the Enterprise through effective and efficient processes.
  • Appropriately research and document key processes and decisions.
  • Contributes and executes on ideas to improve business processes and knowledge in the workplace.
  • Operates collaboratively while building relationships with business partners.


ABOUT YOU:

  • Intermediate knowledge of accounting and/or finance practices and procedures preferably common to an insurance industry accounting environment.
  • Establish and execute against assigned deadlines.
  • Aptitude for technical learning and application to tactical business problems. Must have the ability to learn new technologies and apply this knowledge to optimize processes.
  • Ability to maintain high level of accuracy with minimal rework.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • A self-starter with an inquisitive nature used to overcome knowledge gaps and execute against expectations.
  • Creative problem solver with a focus on process improvement/automation and reducing manual work.
  • Ability to generate ideas to improve work results and share them with their team and supervisor.
  • Self-driven, basic ambiguity management and willingness to learn.
  • Communicates effectively verbally, non-verbally and in written formats, with peers and internal business partners.
  • Intermediate knowledge of expense management, budgeting, and allocation practices.
  • Developing understanding of products and elements of the business.

  • You are able to work remotely and have access to high-speed internet.
  • Must be located in United States or Puerto Rico.

VALUABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance related field.
  • Intermediate understanding of statutory accounting and/or business processes.

  • Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year
  • Regular associates receive 9 paid holidays in 2023
  • Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 56 hours of personal time in 2023, prorated based on start date.
  • Salary Range: $56,150 to $65,000
  • Pay commensurate with experience.
