Requirements:

- Eighteen (18) years of age.

- High school diploma or GED.

- One (1) year experience in food production quality assurance (private or public sectors).

Three (3) years' work experience in any industry which requires applicant to analyze problems, gather pertinent data, recognize solutions, and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Please Note: General clerical experience (typing, filing, routine processing, or other non-specialized repetitive tasks) is not creditable.

Bachelor's degree from accredited University (no experience required).

- Valid driver's license to travel to various worksite locations for sample and inspection work; may be required to have transportation if government vehicle is not available (mileage reimbursement paid by the employer if using own transportation).

Employer Notes:

- Temporary position ' The employee will work a mixed tour work schedule which includes a combination of full-time/part-time and intermittent (as needed) work schedules. No minimum amount of hours is guaranteed position will have a fluctuating work schedule.

Please Note: The employer states that even though this position is temporary they have employees that have worked with them for several years because work is based off days worked in the calendar year; up to 180 days (ask the employer for more details).

- This employer conducts a physical exam after job offer, a background check and a DMV records check before first day of employment.

Job Duties:

Responsible for developing U.S. grade standards and providing inspection, grading, certification, and audit-based services nation-wide on a user-fee basis for fresh and processed fruits and vegetables and related products.

- The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.

- Selects representative samples from the product lots in accordance with prescribed sampling and plans.

- Inspects products to determine the quality, condition, and/or compliance with U.S. Grade Standards or stated contract specifications.

- Prepares and maintains a variety of reports related to production data and grading results.

- Makes observations to determine if plant facilities, operating methods, processing equipment and personnel are in compliance with Specialty Crops Inspection (SCI) sanitation requirements and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations.

- Observes the raw product material to establish the suitability for processing and advises plant management of the results.

- Performs any other duties as assigned.
