Job description
The Financial Counselor is responsible for verifying inpatient and observation patient benefits to determine each patient’s financial responsibility. They will call and/or visit those patients determined to have a financial obligation for their hospital stay. They will make an attempt to collect the payment. They are responsible for exercising good judgment in making decisions concerning accounts in order to secure payment arrangements. They conduct patient interviews to obtain registration information, complete required forms and obtains signatures. They are responsible for obtaining payment of patient due balances, assisting with acceptable payment plans and for completion of any research needed to resolve patient concerns directed to the facility after discharge .
Experience
Required- prior business office, medical practice financial counselor, insurance follow-up, billing, cash posting or reimbursement experience required
Education
Required- High School or better
