THE ROLE
Legends Finance team is looking for a talented and highly motivated Finance Associate to support the Finance & Strategy function. The position will support the Finance Leadership Team to create annual budgets and long-term strategic plans, analyze and forecast fundamental business and market trends, and combine data with sound logic to inform business-optimizing recommendations. The Finance Associate will report to the Vice President, Finance & Strategy, and will work closely with all other members of the executive Finance Leadership Team.
The ideal candidate will have excellent quantitative (i.e., advanced Excel modeling), analytical, organizational, and communication skills. The candidate must display an innovative and flexible attitude towards the application of his or her skills to the changing needs of the business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Financial Planning & Forecasting:
- Partner with operational finance team and Finance Leadership team to forecast business trajectory and to formulate budgetary needs and long-term strategic plans
- Perform variance and trend analysis versus plans as well as previous years
- Highlight risks and opportunities relative to business plans
Business and Portfolio Reporting & Analysis:
- Build tools, reports, and performance dashboards and KPI’s for Finance Executive Team as needed
- Identify opportunities to improve business performance
- Package business insights and performance summaries into materials for the Finance Leadership team
Business Development/ M&A:
- Create pro forma financial projections for organic new business and acquiring entities
- Partner with Finance Leadership to build business cases for new business investments or possible acquisitions
Process, Systems & Tools Optimization:
- Look for opportunities to innovate and redefine processes and procedures for both efficacy and efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Investment banking analyst program or management consulting experience preferred
- History of Financial Statement and cash flow analysis (e.g., Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flow, NPV, and IRR)
- Understanding of capital structures and strategies
- Demonstrable analytic aptitude (e.g., accustomed to identifying actionable business insights based on analysis of market and business trends)
- Exceptionally strong Excel modeling and PowerPoint skills
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work well with others under tight deadlines
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Business Management, Accounting, and/or Economics
- CPA or CFA certification is a plus, but not required
- MBA is a plus, but not required
