PUBLIC WORKS/UTILITY DEPARTMENT: WATER & SEWER

Under direction, this is responsible work involving meter reading, meter maintenance, meter calibration, customer interaction and other duties related to utility work. Employees in this classification are responsible for reading meters, recording consumption and repairing meters. Objective is to support correct and timely billing of metered services by accurately and efficiently recording meter readings along a clearly designated work route. Although the employee works independently and is often physically removed from supervision, duties are performed within the framework of pre-established policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

up to 10% of the minimum of the new hire employees' position paygrade.

***Incentive Agreement Required***

High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year experience in water meter repair and maintenance or closely related experience.

Must possess and maintain a current and valid Florida Driver's License.

Must possess and maintain a Florida Department of Environmental Protection Level 3 or higher Water Distribution System Operator License and a Class C or higher Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association Wastewater Collection Certification. Employee without said license/certification will be allowed one year and six months (1.5 years) from date of employment with the City of Sanford to attain this license/certification.

Employee shall obtain the National Incident Management System ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System and IS-700 National Incident Management System, An Introduction within six (6) months of employment. The following courses are designed to provide a baseline, as they introduce basic NIMS and ICS concepts and provide the foundation for higher level Emergency Operations Center (EOC), MACS, and ICS related training.

Pay: $33,075.00 - $46,997.00 per year
