Position Summary:
Convergent Dental recently developed and launched Solea, a dental laser that cuts everything in the oral cavity without anesthesia. Less than two years after its introduction, Solea has become the #1 hard and soft tissue laser in dentistry and we are looking for a Field Service Engineer who can assist customers over the phone and on-site with technical problem diagnosis and resolution. This is an exciting and challenging position that fills a critical need and contributes significantly toward the company’s success.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of equipment both in-house and at customer sites
- Carry out technical assignments to install, modify, and repair our laser based Dental Systems
- Analyze and repair mechanical, electrical, and software failures.
- Complete in a timely manner, standard equipment documentation and reports to include service reports, installation records, and other documents necessary for a FDA approved device.
- Provides customers with timely and accurate technical information in a positive and straight forward manner.
- Disassembles malfunctioning dental devices, troubleshoots and uses standardized testing procedures; examines and tests mechanisms for defects.
- Replaces or repairs defective parts; may require modification or replacement components.
- Reassembles dental devices or equipment and tests assembly for conformance to specifications.
- Inspects devices and tests equipment periodically and adjusts calibration to ensure functioning within specified standards.
- Determines correct spare parts required to complete a repair.
- Maintain an inventory of materials, including electrical, mechanical, and optical components for in field servicing of client devices.
- Provide training to dental office staff on the set up and maintenance of the dental laser.

Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of electro-mechanical systems (lasers and optics valued)
- ASEE or equivalent technical education.
- Minimum of 3 years working in a field service capacity working with customers to resolve problems related to computer hardware/software/medical devices.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent service etiquette
- Able to work independently
- Ability to regularly lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license and current valid unrestricted passport required
- May require after hours telephone support or on-call availability.
- Window and MS Office Suite experience required. com experience is a plus.
- Experience in Dental or Medical practices reliant on advance technologies a plus.
