Utah Valley University (UVU) invites applications for a one-year Special Education & Autism full-time non-tenure track faculty position to teach special education and autism studies courses. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of teacher education principles and practices as well as years of relevant K-12 teaching experience. This individual will teach undergraduate courses in special education and autism studies, mentor students in their teacher education performance assessment, and teach other courses as deemed appropriate and per their training and experience. The position will begin August 1st, 2023.

The UVU School of Education currently offers undergraduate degrees in teacher education, a minor in autism studies, graduate degrees in educational leadership, school counseling, applied behavior analysis, and graduate certificates and endorsements. Duties will include:
Teach undergraduate teacher education courses- Conference with students regarding coursework, fieldwork, and academic endeavors
- Improve professionally and maintain currency in the courses taught
- Follows professional ethical standards
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in a field closely related to the field of instruction- At least three years of relevant K-12 teaching experience
- Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA or BCBA-D)
- Two years of college/university teaching experience
- Earned relevant professional license or credentials
- Knowledge of BACB ethical compliance code, requirements, and task lists
- Awareness and understanding of National Autism Standards and research
- Experience with course development pertaining to Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Current research, instructional theory, methods, strategies, assessments, innovations and techniques in pre-service teacher education including clinical programming and teacher performance assessment
- Cultural competencies to work effectively with diverse students and colleagues
- Content and skills required to teach relevant courses
- Manage a productive teaching/learning environment
- Support prospective education professionals in performance assessments
- Provide timely and effective feedback
- Work collaboratively with students, university and school colleagues, and community
- Human relations skills including working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Work effectively in an environment that values exceptional care, exceptional accountability, and exceptional results
- Utilize the university course management system
- Create an inclusive and engaged student-centered environment
- Communicate and relate positively with colleagues, students, and school personnel
- Uphold professional and ethical teaching standards
- Engage with students and colleagues in critical professional issues and innovations
- Ability to implement and teach students a wide variety of evidence-based interventions used to treat ASD and other related developmental disorders.
- Ability to supervise experience hours practicum for students pursuing BCBA certification
