Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Operations, the Facility Operations Manager of Housing Maintenance has overall responsibility for managing all maintenance activities, processes, procedures, and personnel assigned to the Housing maintenance teams. The scope of housing maintenance includes both reactive/corrective and preventative maintenance throughout the University Housing (UH) complexes. These complexes include Poly Canyon Village, Cerro Vista, yakityutyu, Sierra Madre, Yosemite, and both North and South Mountain dormitories. The incumbent will provide comprehensive technical support and guidance to Housing projects; act as a key liaison with customers; coordinate jobs including work assignments, estimates, and resident space availability; and ensure supplies and materials are available for assigned work scope. Incumbent may perform related work activities as required.

Department Summary

Facilities Management and Development (FMD), a unit within the Administration and Finance Division (AFD), is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. FMD consists of four critical and interdependent support departments, including Customer & Business Services; Environmental Health & Safety; Facilities Planning & Capital Projects; and Facilities Operations. Key Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
Thorough knowledge of effective personnel management practices and supervisory skills including a demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Thorough knowledge of project management related maintenance, renovation, and new construction including skills in design, planning, scheduling, staffing, purchasing, budget, and quality control.
Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, communicate, and apply federal and state laws, CSU and university personnel policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn university infrastructure, policies and procedures.
Education and Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field AND five (5) years of progressively responsible experience working in a large maintenance department with at least two (2) years in a management/supervisory role.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, DEGREES, CREDENTIALS:
Possession of (or ability to obtain by date of hire) a valid California Driver's License. This position may require the ability to obtain AHERA Supervisor certification for asbestos related work and Cal/OSHA Lead training as well as the ability to wear respiratory protection. A Cal/OSHA mandated medical evaluation is required prior to the use of a respirator.
Salary and Benefits

The anticipated hiring range for this role is $95,000 - $115,000 per year. per year. Note that the offer is calculated based on the background and relevant years of experience of the individual selected.
