This position is a newly created position because our company is growing!
This position does require 60% travel in a company vehicle and/or driving in a company vehicle within 5 hours of the branch location and requires a good driving record and a valid U.S Driver's license.
The Facilities Specialist is responsible for being a single point of contact for designated facilities within the Southern Carlson footprint. This professional will assist in streamlining daily requests for facilities/construction requests. Maintaining proper documentation and communication with in-house customers to achieve value added cost savings and multi-facility standardization is necessary.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Communicate with various levels of management and staff on day-to-day facility related issues.
- Work with field staff to address required repairs and schedules.
- Work with subcontractors for various services and contracts.
- Communicate with local building officials/fire marshals to discuss permits and city ordinances to ensure facility safety, compliance, and efficiency.
- Communicate with landlords regarding lease requirements for specific repairs and remedies.
- Identify areas of cost savings from the facilities management perspective.
- Provide onsite services within the SouthernCarlson footprint as needed.
- Set up contracts such as landscaping, snow removal, HVAC, janitorial, and others as required.
- Provide purchasing services as need for facilities related materials.
- Read and interpret leases and contracts to ensure elimination of unnecessary spending.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial/residential construction management.
- Ability to read and interpret commercial leases and lease related documentation.
- Ability to speak fluently in various fields of construction, i.e., plumbing, electrical, concrete, HVAC drywall, lighting, flooring, etc.
- Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings, engineered and civil drawings.
- Must be able to multitask on a variety of projects in various locations.
- Possess a positive attitude with all teams, customers, and business associates.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of programs
- Highly organized self-starter with strong capacity for critical thinking, engagement, and responsive communication.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand the commercial, operational and financial priorities of the business and align analytics initiatives and activities on the areas of highest impact.
- Strong practical analytics - analytically rooted, balanced with a practical side that has a bias toward action versus paralysis by perfection.
- Highly disciplined self-starter with a strong POV who can positively, effectively lead themselves and others, often in ambiguous and/or new territory.
- Ability to productively partner with a wide variety of teams across the organization to advance company goals.
