Summary
Under general direction, performs work of considerable difficulty in the management of facilities and equipment. The incumbent is responsible for the development of facilities plans (long and short range), preparation of budgets, and administrative support. The Facilities Manager is also responsible for supervising the overall maintenance and housekeeping operations of the Lake County Health Department's buildings, grounds, equipment and associated vehicles. Helps assure compliance with regulatory and accrediting body requirements related to facilities. Understands concepts of safety related to facility management and building systems for staff, visitors, patients, and clients. This position reports to the Director of Business Operations.

Essential Functions

  • Assures compliance with the preventive and deferred maintenance schedules for Health Department buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicles.
  • Schedules and expedites operations, repairs and ongoing upkeep of buildings and grounds.
  • Inspects buildings and equipment routinely for compliance to safety standards and repair needs.
  • Reviews major purchases and renovation contracts, obtains vendor estimates, and participates in budget process.
  • Provides expertise and coordinates the documentation needed in support of grant applications and other capital funding initiatives
  • Manages the reordering of supplies and equipment for maintenance and housekeeping daily operations.
  • Oversees the scheduling and training of the Maintenance and Housekeeping staffs.
  • Evaluates and discusses remodeling, renovation, and general construction requests with appropriate Service Area Director.
  • Assures vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Monitors and assures the timely and effective response to after-hours emergency facility repairs, maintenance, housekeeping, and security calls.
  • Oversee the compliance with contract scope for the janitorial service.
  • Functions as the Department liaison with general contractors on construction and remodeling projects.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required

  • Completion of a Master’s degree and three years experience OR Bachelor’s degree and five years’ experience or;

Associates degree and seven years’ experience or;
High School/GED and 10 years’ experience.

  • Supervisory experience in a maintenance/mechanical environment is required.
  • Experience in a health care or government organization is preferred.
  • Experience managing contractors in a maintenance/mechanical environment is required.

Pay: $89,960.00 - $105,191.84 per year
