Bachelor’s degree
Minimum two years of experience in Export Controls Regulations.

License/Certification Required

Essential Job Functions
The Export Controls Specialist will assist the Director of Research Protections and the Vice Provost for Research with compliance with the university’s export control compliance policy (#217) by performing the following tasks:
1. Restricted Party Screening for Sponsored Programs using Visual Compliance
a. Querying the electronic research administration system, Cayuse, for new proposals with international components and running the appropriate restricted party screening for each proposal.
b. Investigating any irregularities identified through restricted party screenings and resolving these issues as appropriate.
2. International Travel
a. Encouraging faculty and staff traveling abroad to complete export control forms
3. Classification of items disclosed on the export control form
a. Classifications of the items listed in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
b. Determination of the need for a license and assisting faculty with the license.
c. Screening international collaborations by restricting party screening.
