This position will support Corvallis and Albany locations.:Compensation: $16.80 - $21.00 per hour (based on years of experience)
Summary:
The Exercise Specialist maintains the readiness of the therapy clinic and performs patient care activities as outlined in Oregon practice regulations (OAR) under the direct supervision of a therapist or therapy assistant.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Handbook. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within.
- Performs Level 1 PCE’s from written instructions provided by the Physical Therapist as needed.
- Maintains cleanliness of exercise equipment and gym area.
- Oversees the Clinic rehabilitation membership members, including developing and implementing exercise programs.
- Maintain Clinic readiness by stocking treatment supplies; and cleaning of treatment areas and equipment.
- Direct patient flow and prepare patients for therapy.
- Assist therapist or therapy assistant with direct patient care. Demonstrate competent use of modality equipment and exercise equipment. Maintain proficiency in instruction and monitoring of exercise programs.
- Maintain clinic treatment records; posting of current transcription, ordering of medical records, x-ray, etc.
- Maintain proficiency in the use of clinic computer systems including but not limited to retrieval of information or scheduling of patients.
- Answer phones and assist with other process-oriented tasks including, but not limited to, authorization of patients.
- Improve the quality of care through continuing education and self-evaluation of the effectiveness of care. This includes attendance/participation in most in-services/department meetings and remaining current on department policies and procedures.
- Participate in orientation and training of new employees.
- This position will be expected to float to all locations in Albany and Corvallis as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related healthcare field
- Previous experience as a CMA, therapy aide, EMT, or similar role
- Background in anatomy, physiology, or kinesiology
- Exercise Specialty Certification is highly desirable
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Intermediate computer skills
- Ability to work well with providers and other staff
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work
