General Summary / Overview Statement
Reporting to the Director of the Mass General Research Institute (MGRI) Division of Clinical Research (DCR) and to Senior Vice-President & Chief Academic Officer of Mass General Hospital (MGH), this position is responsible for the overall operations of the MGRI DCR. DCR’s mission is to increase the quantity, quality and efficiency of clinical research at MGH. DCR nurtures and empowers the next generation of clinical research investigators, supports study staff and provides guidance, resources and tools to all members of the DCR community. DCR provides navigation, consultation, hands-on direct support and education through fifteen units, nine centers and the Support Services Core.
Responsibilities include:
Setting strategic operation goals to ensure a multifaceted research environment that promotes clinical research endeavors at MGH; partnership with hospital and system-wide leadership in support of the MGH clinical research community; streamlining of operational processes to facilitate DCR’s assistance of Mass General Hospital (MGH) and Mass General Brigham (MGB) Investigators and Research Study Teams.
Drawing on a broad understanding of hospital and clinical research policies and procedures, and displaying a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, collaborates with MGH/MGB research leadership to continually assess and direct activities, including day-to-day management of operations, personnel, clinical research billing and finances, educational programs, facilities and systems, programmatic and project development and strategy development. Position requires discretion, sound judgment, exceptional organizational and communication skills, ability to prioritize and complete a wide range of tasks, and handling of confidential information.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- MBA, MPH or other comparable master’s degree, with 15+ years related experience
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES:
- Outstanding organizational skills; flexibility to balance multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines
- Ability to provide support, direction and development to staff at all levels, including management and physicians
- Effective financial and analytical skills, including budget development, grant and contract management
- Ability to make decisions quickly and independently
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; political savvy and discretion to address difficult or critical issues
- Exceptional computer skills, including operating systems, word processing, database, electronic mail, Internet, and spreadsheets
- Effective leadership skills to initiate activities, direct and run diverse, multidisciplinary teams

Position offers a hybrid work schedule inclusive of both onsite and remote work.
