About us

The Consulate General of Belgium in Atlanta represents Belgium in the Southeast of the U.S.

We are seeking a motivated and versatile executive assistant to work in a supporting role to the Consul General and the consular section of our organization.

They will be in charge of the Consul General’s agenda, support the office’s functioning, organize and coordinate events of public diplomacy and will follow up on ad-hoc files in the economic, political and consular sections. In addition, they will also be in charge of the appointments and documents processing for passport and identity cards.

Their main duties will include:

· Manage the Consul General’s agenda and contacts.

· Manage the Consul General’s trips in the 10 states of our jurisdiction.

· Manage the Diplomatic Pouch and incoming and outgoing office mail.

· Manage and keep diplomats and office files in good standing with the US State Department including all formalities for a smooth transition of diplomats.

· Manage appointments for passports and ID cards and process documents for applications

· Organize events of public diplomacy, including cost estimation, securing sponsoring and/or developing collaborations with third parties. Drafting reports on these events.

· Accomplishing ad hoc projects in different fields: economic, political, educational and consular.

Profile

Candidates should have:

· advanced written and spoken knowledge of French and/or Dutch

· excellent organizational and writing skills as well as good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

The following additional skills will be considered as assets:

· Working knowledge of a second Belgian national language (French or Dutch).

· Experience in or affinity for customer service

· Experience with working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.

Candidates should also be:

· interested in the Belgian society and culture.

· culturally sensitive and understand what communication is appropriate for a culturally diverse audience.

· autonomous, proactive, detail and customer service-oriented and demonstrate a sense of initiative.

· reliable and trustworthy.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:

· bachelor’s/undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.

· excellent knowledge of English and advanced written and spoken knowledge of French or Dutch.

· U.S. citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $51,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
