Taylor-Morgan, a fast-growing local company specializing in wastewater treatment technology is looking for experienced team members to assist in industrial/commercial wastewater and excavation projects. The base office for this position in Emmett, Idaho however work happens within an 8-10hour travel distance. We are open to applicants from anywhere in the United States. Job Description:
The Heavy Equipment Operator’s primary responsibility is to operate all kinds of heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner per the specs and blueprints for the job at hand. Applicants should be extremely detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated and must have the ability to think out-of-the-box to find solutions to both routine and complex construction problems while continuing to push the project forward.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participate in morning team and safety meetings. Have the ability to “look ahead”, one to two weeks out to organize and obtain needed materials and parts. Take note of the weather and any outside conditions as it applies to the jobsite tasks.
- Excavate and laser per plan specifications and trade standards. Some shovel and out of machine work required.
- Make sure safety precautions are administered - keep safety kits in case of emergencies and be able to locate them.
- Have discretion, professionalism and mutual respect when dealing with others.
- Practice great time and resource management - complete jobs within timeline given, adjust daily schedules as needed to meet the demand.
- Ensure that you have the tools and equipment needed for the job scheduled.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks - ensure machines and tools are safely securely stored and in good working condition. Report to supervisor any tools or equipment not in good working condition.
- Complete jobs efficiently and on time without sacrificing the quality of work being done.
- When moving machines, operate safely and efficiently by following proper loading and unloading procedures.
- Everyone is responsible for safe work environments and comply with state, federal, OSHA and HHS safety policies.
- Experience managing multiple crews and multiple jobs a plus.
- Plumbing, electrical, welding, confined space, rigging, CPR, OSHA 10, OSHA 30, MSHA a plus.
- Daily machine maintenance such as clearing tracks and greasing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have basic knowledge of soil types, slopes, grades.
- Knowledge of electrical as it applies to pumps, panels and basic applications is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years operation of front-end loaders, excavators, dozers, skid steers and other pieces of heavy equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Ability to safely operate equipment in the presence of field crew and utilities ensuring the safety of all persons, equipment, property and utilities in the area.
- Must have knowledge of construction safety and quality standards covering excavation, installations of septic components, finishing, and inspection. Must have a working awareness of liability and the ability to see the big picture down to the screws.
- Welding, auto maintenance knowledge, engineering or construction degree, plumbing and electrical license or certifications a plus.
- CPR/First Aid certified - preferred but not required, we pay for necessary training.
- Confined space training, rigging, OSHA 30.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and be able to pass a back ground check, drug/alcohol testing and a physical abilities test.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Must be in good physical condition enough to have the ability to climb in and out of trenches, manholes, and other confined work areas; climb ladders, stairs, uneven terrain and to lift, maneuver, and transport up to 70 lbs. You will be lifting, pulling, and managing heavy equipment and objects at times.
- Ability to work outside in sometimes harsh conditions for long periods of time wearing the appropriate attire.
- Must have your own basic hand tools, larger tools will be provided.
- Must be willing to travel out of town/neighboring states for extended periods of time. Excellent travel accommodations plus weekly per diem provided.
- You must be punctual and stay until dismissed.
- Must be neat, organized, clean and to continue that theme through the jobsite, machines and company vehicles.
- Must have a great attitude, be fun to work with and the ability to motivate team members on site. Must not be afraid to get dirty by getting in the trench to teach and lend a hand. Good decision making, verbal and listening skills, willing to learn and teach is required.
- Must be trustworthy, honest, respectful and courteous to all. Must possess a great work ethic, ready to do what needs to be done under deadlines and pressure to deliver results. Must be an independent self-starter who takes pride in their work, open to correction when needed.
