Brief Description of Duties

  • Assists in planning, organizing, and carrying out department’s recreational services.
  • Administers a well-rounded program of diversified activities in the assigned recreation component.
  • Provides instruction and coaching on various sports and fitness activities, learning the fundamentals of the game.
  • Submits all supply and maintenance needs, giving suggested source of supply to supervisor.
  • Keeps a daily record of attendance in the assigned recreational activities and areas.
  • Maintains discipline, cleanliness and inventory control in assigned areas.
  • Posts schedules of monthly activities and special events.
  • Submits a schedule of activities to the manager on the last Wednesday of each month.
  • Submits list of monthly off-center cultural activities and other events, which will be placed on the upcoming month’s calendar of off-center trips.
  • Maintains a stocked first aid kit in assigned area where it is clearly visible and accessible.
  • Assists in recruitment of volunteers and supervises and gives direction to any volunteer personnel assigned to the recreation area.
  • Projects a positive self-image and encourages enthusiastic participation in recreation programs.
  • Chaperones and directs off-center trips and ensures necessary funds are available for the trips.
  • Ensures student leaders are trained as facilitators for Leisure Learning and that they are involved with the activities.
  • Ensures that Leisure Learning Activities result in improved academic outcomes, increased retention, and improved staff/student relations.
  • Provides a wide variety of clubs and organizations for students to participate in.
  • Submits time sheet and other reports timely and according to center policy.
  • Oversees the SGA and student leadership programs according to PRH and center policy.
  • Assists with and trains student leaders according to center policy.
  • Maintains recreational equipment and good housekeeping and complies with safety practices.
  • Model, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards. Models and supports career development goals, the Zero Tolerance Policy, appropriate social and employability behavior and intervention techniques, and student placement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Plan, organize, and implement a structured evening/weekends studies program.
  • Administers a well-rounded program of enrichment activities to meet evening/weekend studies requirements.
  • Keeps a daily record of attendance of students who participate in evening/weekend studies (including non-residential students). Submits weekly reports to management.
  • Teaches study skills, and prepares students for test/assessments.
  • Assists in recruitment of volunteers and supervises and gives direction to any volunteer personnel assigned to the recreation area.
  • Projects a positive self-image and encourages enthusiastic participation in the evening/weekends studies program.
  • Serves as a member of the Leisure Learning Committee and reports progress of activities to the committee.
  • Collaborates on a weekly basis with the Academic Manager to discuss student academic needs. Uses the information provided to support students who are having difficulties in academics and trade.
  • Collaborate with all areas to involve staff in proctoring and facilitating both group and individual assignments (in-person or virtually).
  • Tracks all students on leisure time employment, making sure all approvals are obtained and required documentation is in place prior to students starting employment.
  • Communicate with transportation as required. Send out weekly list of students approved for leisure time employment.

Qualifications

Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel.

Experience

Minimum of one to three years related experience and/or training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
