We are seeking an ETW Research Assistant on a contract basis who will carry out foundational research in kinesiology and biometrics, which fuels and supports the overall innovation agenda resulting in the creation of functionally superior creative products. Utilizes biomechanical and physiological equipment to conduct leading-edge experiments to collect data contributing to the research and development of new technologies. Demonstrates a high level of initiative in performing experiments independently. Summarizes data from research. Assists in the preparation of reports to present results of independent experiments and findings at the department level.

What you’ll do:
Will work closely under the supervision of Directors, Program Managers, and Researchers in the NSRL on a variety of projects, with a focus on
Execution of data collection on a research project
Conducting a variety of steps within a research project, including overall preparation, recruiting, set up, tear down, and organization for a project
Working with many teams throughout the lab
Working on a variety of projects or programs within the Behavior and Experience team agenda
Thorough understanding of anatomy, biomechanical principles, experimental designs, and statistical procedures
Understanding of injury mechanisms and sporting performance
Exposure to industrial research and management experience preferred
May be required to perform a wide variety of physical tasks which are generally basic, repetitive, and routine in nature
May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time, in addition to being required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, or pull
May be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, or feel small and medium-sized components and exert force or lift up to 50 pounds
May be required to work with toxic or caustic chemicals, and be exposed to fumes and gases, airborne particles, and RF energy
May be called upon to perform physical and quality checks requiring sufficient visual acuity to identify quality flaws, distinguish colors on small components, or utilize microscopes
May be required to work with or near small mechanical parts or technical equipment/machinery so they may be subject to higher noise levels, and vibration, and there may be a risk of electrical shock
Carry out foundational research in perception research (cognitive/neuroscience experience a plus), which fuels and supports the overall innovation agenda resulting in the creation of functionally superior creative product
Will utilize both perception science and cognitive neuroscience equipment to conduct leading-edge experiments to collect data contributing to the research and development of new technologies
They will take high-level initiative in performing experiments and follow a research agenda
Candidate will leverage their expertise to summarize data from research and assist in the preparation of reports to present the results of independent experiments and findings at the department level
Researcher will rely upon a thorough understanding of perception and or cognitive neuroscience, experimental designs, and statistical procedures related to sporting performance

The ideal candidate must have:
Strong knowledge of cognitive neuroscience mechanisms (EEG) and Data Collection relevant to R&D
Knowledge or experience in either: 1) Sensory, Perception, or Food Sciences or related field or 2) Behavior Science, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or related field
Experience and comfort with the scientific method, data collection, and utilizing technical tools
Can follow detailed instructions. Can handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Takes care in following instructions, handling data
Good people skills. Can develop and maintain positive relationships with other team members
Can work well with research subjects
Able to work and communicate effectively across the Behavior and Experience Team and across various departments
Sense of Urgency. Brings a high level of energy and strives to meet deadlines

Education:
Bachelor's Degree Required

Hours & Location:
M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be an onsite role in our Customer's Beaverton, OR . There is no remote capability for this role
