Job Summary
Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors. May conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.
Knowledge | Experience | Skills
Bachelor’s degree in safety or related area. Three years’ experience in safety management or equivalent degree required. Familiar with OSHA (Manufacturing and Construction), EPA, NFPA, and ANSI standards. Intermediate computer knowledge. Ability to develop and conduct training. Ability to develop, revise and implement safety programs. Excellent communication skills, critical thinker, and interpersonal skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Develop and implement site-wide safety policies and programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions and unsafe working habits.
· Responsible for the Safety Manual as to the addition, revision, or deletion of safety programs.
· Responsible for Environmental duties as specified in Technimark’s Policy Manual #Corp-1011.
· Set up and implement hazardous waste, wastewater or toxin management programs.
· Be proactive in working with regulatory agencies to learn about upcoming changes and prepare the organization to meet changing regulatory requirements.
· Ensure the plant meets all air quality permit requirements according with the WV department of environmental protection.
· Lead efforts to involve employees in safety-related programs and issues development in creating an injury free environment. Trend and track performance of EH&S related programs.
· Implement, manage and support OSHA applicable programs like: hearing protection (noise exposure measurement); LOTO, machine guardian, etc.
· Conduct safety meetings, inspections, audits and training programs and, with the HR & Training Manager, oversee the effective delivery of safety related training that is conducted by other Technimark personnel and outside contractors.
· Oversee the complete and thorough investigation of each recordable injury in a timely basis, ferreting out root causes and implementing proper corrective actions and accountable parties for implementation.
· Communicate WH&S Metrics to all plant personnel, including on site partners and customers.
· Maintain material safety data sheet files.
· Responsible for the addition, revision, or deletion of safety training materials.
· Assist with management of Workers' Compensation - loss prevention, claims management, return to work programs, and investigations.
· Main and complete injury records and OSHA 300 and 300A log. Submit and post the OSHA logs on time according with agency requirements.
