Environmental Engineer :(Agribusiness)

We have an immediate opening for an Environmental Engineer working at the cutting edge of agriculture sustainability and climate adaption, to be located in either our Maple Grove or Des Moines office.

Responsibilities :
An engineer applying for this position must be knowledgeable, innovative, and have demonstrated experience with concepts connected to agriculture sustainability and climate resiliency. An emphasis will be placed on candidates with education and experience in two core focus areas. 1) Strong writing and communication skills focused on transforming current and emerging technical science into public facing information; 2) Demonstrated experience working with greenhouse gas modeling, water quality modeling, and other environmental tools connected to agriculture sustainability issues. Special consideration will be given to candidates with a track record of independently solving innovative and challenging issues.

The preferred candidate needs to illustrate the ability to work independently, apply reasoning skills and logic to reach technical conclusions, and transform the results into outcomes that can easily be understood by broad audiences. The ability to independently develop and prepare technical reports with a moderate amount of guidance is a necessity. Ability to contribute to project management, pursue grant opportunities, and familiarity with geospatial analysis techniques is also desired. Experience working on projects or studies related and water quality issues associated with streams and lakes is a plus. Occasional travel necessary.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (agriculture, bioproducts and biosystems, water resources, ecological engineering).
• Minimum of five years of demonstrated professional experience addressing environmental issues associated with agricultural sustainability issues.
• An emphasis will be placed on candidates who can demonstrate experience communicating complex scientific information to broad audiences through written documents
• Proficient with Microsoft office (word & excel), computer models, data bases and GIS. Intimate knowledge of the use of GIS in addressing scientific issues is preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License and in good standing.
