Are you looking to gain experience in plumbing? Grand Canyon University's Facilities department is seeking an Entry Level Plumber. This person will perform master journey-level work in the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, fire sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems. This role will be located on our Main Campus at 33rd Ave and Camelback.
What you will do:

Studies building plans and drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.

Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.

Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.

Assembles and installs valves.
-
Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether a system is leaking.

Trouble shoot, repair, replace, and learn about garbage disposals.
-
Inspect and repair toilets.
-
Inspect and clear drain lines.
-
Repair leaks.
-
Other duties as assigned.
What you will need:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
-
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
-
Must have sufficient knowledge of water distribution and wastewater disposal for commercial buildings.

Must demonstrate a proficient knowledge in the correct usage of tools, power tools, and equipment as related to plumbing systems.

Must have the physical skills and endurance to move about campus and the buildings to fulfill daily maintenance tasks and activities.

Self-motivated and shows initiative to start and complete tasks.
-
Must be familiar with, and follow, safety requirements and precautions.

Detail oriented with good troubleshooting skills.

Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Must pass background check requirements.
