Job Summary

The Engineering Honors and Global Engineering Residential Academic Programs (EHP and GEP, respectively) create a small college atmosphere within the confines of a large research university by combining living and learning environments for students accepted into EHP and GEP. We provide a comprehensive educational experience for these students (first-year students through seniors) in small-sized classes, peer mentoring and the vertical integration of students throughout the undergraduate experience, with strong emphases on the non-technical aspects of education, the integration of research and service with the classroom experience, the value of community and the group process. EHP and GEP offer co-curricular activities, student leadership development, informal developmental advising, and career counseling for participating students. The primary goal of these residential programs is to provide students with an integrated learning experience that encompasses research, education, and service within the context of intentional community in an effort to fully engage students in their educational process. GEP, part of the mission of the Mortenson Center in Global Engineering and Resilience, has an additional focus on international development.

The Residential Program Coordinator provides programmatic support to two Residential Academic Communities, Global Engineering and the Engineering Honors Programs, which are located on contiguous floors in the Williams Village North Residential Hall as part of the larger Engineering Connections residential program. This person’s primary responsibility is the coordination, support and execution of regular program events that largely, but not exclusively, take place within the residential hall during weekends and evenings. A main component of managing program events is mentoring/coaching student leaders in the processes of planning, developing, promoting, preparing, implementing and evaluating program events. As a result, a key expectation for this person will be regularly engaging the community in Williams Village North, including on the residential floors, and establishing relationships with as many GEP and EHP students as possible as the basis for cultivating a community of engagement around the events and activities of the programs. This person will also work with GEP/EHP leadership in the area of communication and data management, including partnering with other campus units whose responsibilities touch upon the EHP-GEP students’ residential experience (e.g., EC, Housing, Residence Life, CAPS, etc.). Because this position will be part of multiple, significant Program transitions for both GEP and EHP, success will require considerable flexibility, the need to transform old traditions and create new traditions without knowing in advance what that will look like, the ability to collaborate with colleagues responsible for the overall Engineering Connections (of which these programs are a part) and the capacity to work with ambiguity.

The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Who We Are

We are committed to the cultivation of a community of students and faculty who are deeply ambitious without being competitive with each other, committed to the success of others without sacrificing their own achievements, and who enjoy engineering without being defined by it.
