Position Summary
As a Senior Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and testing of packaging solutions for our products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, procurement, and operations, to ensure that our packaging is both functional and visually appealing. In this role, you will also play a key role in identifying and implementing sustainable packaging solutions that align with our corporate sustainability goals, as well as mentoring and coaching junior members of the packaging team.
This position reports to the Director of Packaging Development and Implementation-
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of packaging design projects, from concept through production, for new and existing products.
  • Mentor and coach junior members of the packaging team to build technical expertise and facilitate career growth.
  • Develop and execute packaging design projects, from concept through production, for new and existing products.
  • Conduct packaging material testing, including compatibility, shelf life, and transportation, to ensure product quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging meets product requirements, such as product stability, filling line efficiency, and transportation safety.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and new technologies to continuously improve packaging design and functionality.
  • Identify and implement sustainable packaging solutions that align with corporate sustainability goals.
  • Communicate project status and results to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure timely delivery of packaging solutions.
  • Evaluate all component changes for Form, Fit or Function and implement through our Manufacturing Systems
  • Develop and define technical principals.
  • In partnership with Quality, make sound technical recommendations for existing quality issues.
  • Working with packaging suppliers provide technical assistance and knowledge during implementation of packaging components based on our quality and efficiency standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of experience in packaging design and development, preferably in the beverage industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and mentoring junior team members.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with sustainability initiatives and implementing sustainable packaging solutions.
  • Strong understanding of packaging components, supplier processes, manufacturing processes, and Engineering Change Order (ECO) principals.
  • Experience in CAPE or TOPS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft office (Excel, OneNote, Word, and PowerPoint), and understanding of Database concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and manage multiple tasks as projects, ensuring completion to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written communications skills, with the ability to document system procedures in an understandable format.
  • Experience working in a systems development/project management support environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical work experience in CPG or Alcohol Beverage Company
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Travel up to 25% of the time
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be able to drive a car and travel via plane/train as needed.
Work Environment:

  • Works on wet surfaces
  • Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals.
  • Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic.
  • Must be able to move up to 55 lbs.
  • Primary office environment may be warehouse/distribution setting.

The salary range for this role is:
$109,700.00 - $171,600.00
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
