Job Description:
Summary:
The Employee Relations Investigations Advisor is responsible for reviewing, investigating and resolving employee disputes and complaints raised through the organizations internal employee dispute resolution program, Be Heard, and the organizations Ethics reporting system, Ethics point, in a fair, unbiased and consistent manner.
Will investigate sensitive allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, policy violations and other unfair employment practices.
Conduct interviews with the complainant, alleged offender and any relevant witnesses
Must be adept at spotting issues that arise during the course of an investigation that may not have been alleged but require a thorough review.
Review findings of investigation and make recommendations to management on appropriate remediation measures, when needed.
Prepare written response to complainant that advises of the result of the investigation and explains the findings in support of the determination.
Identify trends and partner with management, HR and ER Consulting Advisor to develop proactive approach to resolving systemic issues.
Skills:
5+ years relevant experience, including:
Conducting ER/HR-related investigations, with minimal assistance
Partnering with management and/or HR to implement proactive solutions to individual matters and systemic issues
Drafting investigation memoranda and/or written responses to complainant
Reviewing requests for reasonable accommodations pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act
Excellent communication skills in particular, looking for someone who can (i) tailor their communication style and content to a particular audience to develop a rapport and instill a level of confidence in the investigative process; and (ii) communicate with senior management to effectively influence and where necessary, deliver a difficult message.
Excellent writing skills must be able to effectively communicate the outcome of the investigation to the complainant and the basis for the determination in a thorough, respectful and thoughtful manner.
Must be able to work within established deadlines to conduct a thorough investigation and provide a timely response.
Ability to build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders by demonstrating strong business/policy knowledge and strong investigative skills through excellent interpersonal skills.
Must have a proficient understanding of federal and state employment and labor laws.
Must be able to work independently and be comfortable exercising judgment, making decisions based on the evidence.
Education:
Bachelors degree in a related field required
