Job description
Position Title: Grammar SchoolAssistant Teacher
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the site administrator, to assist lead teachers in providing a Christ-centered educational program for pupils; to assist in other school programs and activities as part of the professional responsibilities; to perform other adjunct duties as assigned; to do other related work as required, all to the Glory of God.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists teacher in organizing learning environment, preparing and maintaining materials and resources.
- Assists in creating a “Model Classroom” environment for students that is functional, well organized, attractive, and conducive to learning through creative displays, bulletin boards and classroom décor.
- Provides support and assistance to individual students or small groups to help them understand content and complete assignments.
- Communicates and collaborates with lead teacher regarding student behaviors and observations.
- Fulfills assigned responsibilities for student supervision (e.g. Yard Supervision, Chapel behavior, field trips) while maintaining a high standard of student behavior.
- Participates in academic and school committees as assigned by administrator (e.g. Spelling Bee, Speech Meet, Math Olympics).
- Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service educational activities, and seeks out professional growth activities.
- Maintains professional appearance and conduct at all times.
Supervision Received
Reports to the Director of Administration of the Grammar School and Lead Teacher
Job Standards and Requirements
Education:
Possession of a Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Successful completion of a student teaching experience or approved internship at an accredited college or university.
Credential:
A valid teaching credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing or other approving authorizing states to service in the assigned area is preferred, but not essential.
