Halifax Elementary School is looking for teacher candidates who are interested in teaching in a K-8 small rural school of approximately 70 students. We are looking for a teacher with a passion or interest in mathematics. This individual will be responsible for instructional planning, including, but not limited to, creating lesson plans and preparation in accordance with the objectives of the instructional program, establishing positive learning expectation standards for all pupils, and evaluating pupils' progress and maintaining current and accurate records of pupils' achievements; implementing instructional methods, including, but not limited to, applying contemporary principles of learning theory and teaching methodology, drawing from the range of instructional materials available in the school, and participating in the development and implementation of new teaching techniques.Qualifications: - The candidate should have strong knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements, knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of teaching, knowledge of classroom and behavior management techniques.- Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs, ability to cooperate with the school faculty and administration in the development and implementation of an articulated program of instruction, ability to work effectively with pupils, parents and guardians, staff members, and community representatives in providing an appropriate educational program; ability to understand the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns of pupils.- Successful teaching experience in an Elementary School K-8 setting.- The candidate should demonstrate a high level of professional commitment to the school's vision and areas of academic focus; leadership skills and the ability to work closely and cooperatively with fellow team members, other building staff members and the building administrator. The candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with various groups (i.e., staff, parents, and community members).Performance Responsibilities: Attends regular school team meetings;Writes and revises weekly lesson plans.Coordinates and conducts conferences with students and parents;Serves as a representative on school committees License Requirements: Teachers must possess or be able to obtain valid teaching licenses issued by the Vermont Agency of EducationCriminal Background & Child Abuse/Neglect Registry Checks required.
