The Mead School, a small, Pre-K-Grade 8 progressive independent school in Stamford CT, founded in 1969, seeks an elementary school educator with primary responsibilities for delivering 3rd-grade reading, writing, and math curriculum. This is an associate teaching position and will be under the direction and assistance of a lead teacher.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an educator early in their career and/or a graduate education student seeking to gain hands-on experience as a part of their graduate programming. This position comes with direct coaching and mentoring from educators with 20+ years of experience; an invaluable asset to someone beginning their teaching career.

Our class sizes range from 5-12 students (one class per grade). A successful candidate for this position will:

• Be excited to build, source, and implement engaging lesson plans to help students develop in reading, writing, and math

• Have a basic understanding of differentiated instruction

• Be interested in and/or have some experience in special education

• Understand the importance of developing authentic relationships with students and prioritize this in practice

• Be open to trying a variety of language arts and math curriculums in order to meet students with different learning profiles

• Be an enthusiastic collaborator with the 3-5 team on social studies curriculum, social-emotional learning, and project-based learning opportunities
